As I was adding items to the portfolio, I noticed that the thumbnail in the gallery suddenly switched sizes. All of my featured images are the same size. However, halfway through adding the portfolio items, the thumbnail size changed from an appropriately sized version of the 3x4 aspect ratio to a 285x285px square. I can't understand why this would happen, as I did nothing different when adding portfolio items that ended up looking square.
Also, I can't get the "page intro text" box to retain content...I hit save and it disappears.
Any help would be appreciated, this site is very close to its due date.
1. By default, the portfolio thumbnails of the theme will display in the frontend as square (just like this demo page: http://themes.uxbarn.com/wp/thine/portfolio-3-colu... ) so that is why any uploaded images will be cropped down to the default value: 285x285 for the thumbnails. :)
2. That is strange. Do you remember when did the issue happen (right from the start when using the theme, or after installing any new plugin, customizing code, etc) ?
Also, could you please try creating a new page and test that again?
Yes, it does occur on upload. WordPress will use the theme's image sizes for any cropping on upload. Please try to re-upload the images again. It should help!

1. Ahh, gotcha. That does make sense. Does the cropping occur on upload? I uploaded some of the images under a different theme, which might be why.
2. It only happens on one page. I'll try to recreate the page and see if the same issue still occurs...
