Please go to "Appearance > Customize > Theme Settings > Portfolio Settings" and scroll down to the "Portfolio Single Pages" section then enable the "Use Full-size Image" option there (screenshot: https://share.getcloudapp.com/DOum85pQ ).
Now the theme will always display the actual full-size image on the portfolio single pages and any GIF images will also work.
