I am afraid the theme does not have such feature, unfortunately. The theme only displays the portfolio title of that item when hovering the mouse cursor.
Sorry, but I have never used that kind of plugin I am afraid. You can try searching on Google with the keywords like so: "hide/show post content on single page plugin wordpress".

I would like to add more text to a portfolio item and still see a little bit of the images... Is it possible to implement a "read more" button?
