Is there a way on the Kathy theme to replace the portfolio category level by portfolio item level?

I explain myself: by default, on Kathy theme homepage, you can browse the portfolio items sorted by category. The categories are displayed on the left. You have to change category to access portfolio items then you have to click on a portfolio item to display all its photos. So we have 3 levels: category > item > photo.

I would like to have portfolio items names directly on the left and thus have access directly to the photos of each item by clicking on a link on the left. We would have 2 levels only: item > photo.

Is there a way to do it?
