Unfortunately, there is no option for that. The homepage in the demo site is using the All Works template which has its own features (listing portfolio items and categories). When any other pages select the same template, the entire features will also be applied to them just like on the homepage.
We could not choose or use a single element from the template; portfolio category menu, for example, on other pages I am afraid.
The pages provided come with a set format and structure.
The Home Page format/structure Is something I particularly would like to use in multiple locations - with the Portfolio Category menu on the left.
When adding Category items this appears across all pages where the Home Page template is created.
Is there a way for the Home Page to be used in other locations that are not connected across all uses of the page
