I purchased the Alvar theme and have one question:
For my work I want two independent working portfolios on my site. By this I don't mean two categories. So there should be two pages with two independent working portfolios. (portfolio A and portfolio B)
Question: When I create a new portfolio item, is there a way to decide that I just want it on portfolio A and not portfolio B?
If you are currently using two pages with different portfolio templates (one for the All Works template and the other for the Featured Works template), you can set which categories (that contain portfolio items) to display on each template by going to "Appearance > Customize > Portfolio Options".
thx for you reply. Actually that could work for me accept for the "home"-page. Here I would like to have featured projects of both portfolio templates, so I would need a third template to just show the featured work of both portfolios. I hope, this is understandable and thx in advance.
Unfortunately, the theme only has two portfolio templates for selection. I am afraid you would need to manually customize the theme for additional ones. I am sorry about that.
I am afraid not because you would need to modify the code in order to change the query to retrieve only the featured works for the third template.
I would suggest creating a new child theme, create a new template file (you can see the coding idea from the existing ones), and customize the code from there.
thanks for your answers. To make things quick I think I found a solution how to have multiple different portfolios. But there is one question mark:
So I would like to have two Portfolios (Portfolio A, Portfolio B) + the Portfolio Featured Work on my Mainpage. As a solution for Portfolio A + B I would like to use the "All Works" Portfolio, but on each Portfolio-Page only one Category.
Portfolio Page A = Category A
Portfolio Page B = Category B
So is there a shortcode, that tells the Porfolio Template "All Works" just to show one Category on each Portfolio Page?
Hmm. There is only one global setting for the category selection for the All Works template which is in the theme customizer (screenshot: https://cl.ly/0e83b7894591 ). There are no separate options for selecting different categories for different pages that are using the All Works template I am afraid.

Hi Thorsten!
If you are currently using two pages with different portfolio templates (one for the All Works template and the other for the Featured Works template), you can set which categories (that contain portfolio items) to display on each template by going to "Appearance > Customize > Portfolio Options".

Hi Paul,
thx for your answer. Is there an easy way to customize a third portfolio manually?
