The item might be using the 'full-width' mode so it displays as a single full-width image on the portfolio list. Please open the edit screen of that item, and scroll down to find the option 'Make it full-width on portfolio item view?'; you can disable it to solve the issue.
Howdy again super-designers,
I have an unusual issue, whereby the portfolio categories are not appearing as per your example site!
The category images are all appearing as a single column on random pages and not on others, where they appear properly and in two columns!
Any clues as to what is going on here?
